Help Wanted: “Life” Dream Team Needed

The smarter I get in life, the faster I know when I need to wave the white towel of surrender.  Who or what exactly am I surrendering myself from you ask? It’s me actually.  I’m finding very quickly that there are just some things that I can’t do efficiently on my own so I’m putting together my own dream team to help me in all of the areas of my life.  I have a lot of things that I’m working on and changing personally and professionally.  As busy as I am, I want and need to be effective with my time.  My dream team will include people to help me with the areas of Nutrition and Fitness and General Support.  Professionally, I’m putting together my own dream team as well.  This is the year of change!

Do you have a personal or professional dream team that’s helping you achieve your goals?  I haven’t quite figured out who my personal dream team will be BUT I’m going to bang that out this weekend or in the upcoming week!  Any tips on how to pick a team?

And the journey continues. . .with a little help along the way!

Kicking Off 2012 with Project 30

So I stumbled across this blog Kick Off 2012 with Project 365 and my wheels started turning.  Is there anything that I can do for 365 days in a row?

Workout for 365 days in a row. Yeah Right!

Get a good nights sleep. That would be pure bliss, but probably not gonna happen.

Stay organized. No.

Keep my desk spotless AND manage my email box efficiently. Would be nice.

Go 365 days of not buying things I don’t need. That’s another issue for another day.

Well after a few hours of going around in circles AND admitting that my short attention span probably won’t make it 365 days, I decided that a Project 365 might not work for me.  BUT, I could attempt a Project 30.  Thirty days isn’t so bad to try to continuously do something.   More

I’M BACK!!

It’s been a while…but I’m back!  I suppose I could go down a lengthy list of where I’ve been, why I haven’t been blogging…but in all reality it doesn’t really matter.  It’s the whole life happens story.  But I’ve got lots of reviews and updates coming your way that I can’t wait to share!

And the journey continues….even when you’ve been away.

Football = Love & Hate Relationship

If you ask anyone who knows me what my favorite sport is, they will tell you football.  I grew up watching football.  In my house, Thursday is NFL, Friday was HS football (when my brother played), Saturday is College Game Day and Sunday is NFL again.  Besides the actual game, game day also means football food!  That’s where that love hate relationship comes in.  I will tell you that my usual football fare doesn’t include carrots and celery.  I’m more of a wings and cheese covered food kind of girl.  It’s amazing the mindless eating that we can do when we’re not paying attention.

FAST FACT: Super Bowl is the second biggest day for food consumption after Thanksgiving in the United States….go figure!

Today I meant to go to the Super Bowl Party full.  How did it go? More

Candyland Pit Stop

Over the course of a year, there are always a few pit stops to Candyland, Easter, Halloween, Christmas, random stops in peoples offices.  I would love to say this weight loss journey would involve avoiding these holidays BUT I’m realistic people.  Growing up my family never really celebrated Halloween but that doesn’t mean that I wasn’t surrounded by the left over candy.  For my fellow Weight Watchers, here are a few of my favs along with their points values.  You will see by the list below, my candy choice is usually chocolate!  Also, if you can control your portions and not eat 8 mini snickers, Halloween candy thats on sale is a great way to have your favorite treats in small portions…..just a thought!

Hanging on to Hope – Round 2 – WKMG Get Fit Club

As promised, here is my update!  I enter contests the same way I play the lotto.  I get REALLY excited for a day or two about my prospects and then let it go and don’t expect to hear anything and I usually don’t.  So I wrote my mini essay for the Local 6 Get Fit Club got excited for a moment and then tried not to think about it.  Well a few days ago I got a little boost from God!  I ACTUALLY GOT A CALL BACK!  One of my good friends called me and at that exact same time the WKMG people must have called and went right to voicemail.  In a strange turn of events I actually listened to the voicemail message on accident, everyone who knows me knows I hate listening to voicemails because I always have so many, hence why I now have visual voicemail so I can listen at my leisure.   Thinking the voicemail was from my friend who I haven’t talked to in forever I listened to it right away.  To my surprise it wasn’t my friend….it was WKMG!  I called back, spoke to the producers assistant and set up a time to go in and interview.  More

Reality Check – Local 6 Get Fit Club

Most people who know me know that I love all things reality!  If I had to guess, I probably watch about 25-30 reality tv show over the course of a year.  Some people call it an obsession, I would rather refer to it as being up to date with pop culture.  I watch everything from the “traditional/mainstream” reality tv such as Amazing Race, Top Chef, Project Runway and The Bachelor.  Then I also watch the “originals” such as The Real World and Survivor and “pop culture” reality tv such as Jersey Shore, Bad Girls Club and Keeping Up with the Kardashians.  I of course cannot forget the “obscure” reality tv shows that many of you have never heard of such as Living with Ed and Wa$ted, both on Planet Green.  Side note folks, Planet Green has fabulous programming….you should definitely check it out. Wandering Back Home

I spent the summer wandering.  I don’t mean I wasted gas riding around, we are in a recession after all people.  I just wasn’t mentally focused.  I could try to come up with a million reasons why but none of them were worth it.  I’m not really any better off than I was two months ago and I’m kind of aggravated about it but, eh, such is life.

Instead of focusing on the things that had me all over the place, I’m going to focus on the handful of things that usually help keep me focused.

Camera Shy

Most of my friends know I’m a gadget girl.  I like to have the new hot electronic thing.  I’m currently obsessed with the FLIP cameras.  I love the idea of recording little snipets and sharing them with family and friends.  My birthday is coming up in a few days so as I was thinking of treating myself to a new camera I started thinking this week about the last few years and it occured to me that I don’t really have a lot of picture memories.  I remember a lot of the things in my mind but I don’t have a lot of pictures of those memories.

I’ve suffered from I-don’t-like-my-weight-so-I-won’t-take-pictures syndrome for most of my adult life so I am a pro at hiding from the camera, coming up with excuses as to why I shouldn’t be in a picture, why I should take the pictures, etc.  Most of my friends don’t even ask me anymore to take pictures because they know I will pitch a fit about being in the pictures.  I was perusing a few of my friends very important life events (weddings, showers, etc) that I was apart of and smiled as I remembered their special days, but from the pictures you would never know that I was even there because I’m not in any of the pictures.  For most people that meet me, they know I love to be around people and my friends are so important to me.  While on the outside I’m a type A personality, on the inside I’m always wondering if people are laughing at me because of how I look.
